An old man came up to me at work and bought a ticket. I punched it in and I started twirling my nametag. I looked up and he was just watching me. It took me a second before I blurted out, "I'm so absent-minded! I thought I already told you the price." He smiled and gave me a dollar tip.

I seldom write entries that express my joy or happiness I'm afraid of what comes next. Maybe it's due to the fear that it may be short-lived and when I read it back,
I'll feel foolish for ever believing so in the first place.

A long time ago, I gave myself one rule.
"Only stay if they want you around."
I made that rule to prevent myself from getting my hopes up on a lost cause. I've been asking to be around, not him. He's never said he wanted that from me. Once again, I have built an entire illusion around a misconceived gesture.

But I can take a hint.

It annoys me how people carry on a conversation and both parties are aware that there is unmentioned tension that exists between the two. Instead of just nipping it in the bud, they would much rather pretend that everything is fine and dandy. It drives me crazy. It's easy during the day. There are people to see and things to do in order to distract oneself. It's only when the sun falls down and the moon slowly takes its place that there is no longer a place to hide.

What do you do when you have successfully pushed everyone significant in your life? It's too late for me to redeem myself when I've pulled the same stunts over and over again. Cairo thinks I'm crazy. As I look back on my actions this past few weeks, I just might be. Ouch.

I'm spending the next four days in libraries and exam rooms. Studying overnight at robarts isn't so bad. I go home at six, catch a five hour nap, and go back to the library to continue studying. Thursday. 12pm. COME NOW!

Why did I sign up for this again?
